Koboko District — The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has confirmed the recovery of missing Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) Integrated Science scripts belonging to candidates of Bamure Primary School in Koboko District.
In a statement issued by the Board, UNEB reassured parents, candidates, and the general public that the situation is now fully under control and that the affected scripts will be marked without delay.
According to UNEB, as part of its routine quality assurance procedures conducted ahead of the release of PLE results, it was discovered that the Integrated Science scripts for 34 candidates from Bamure Primary School were missing. As investigations commenced, the affected candidates were provisionally graded with an “X” pending the outcome of a thorough search at the marking centres and the school.
The investigation led to the recovery of a sealed envelope containing the scripts, which was found intact in a lockable box used for UNEB materials in the Headteacher’s office at Bamure Primary School.
For transparency and verification, the envelope was first handed over to Koboko Central Police Station, which confirmed that it had not been tampered with. The scripts were subsequently transferred to UNEB for marking.
Speaking on the matter, Ms. Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Principal Public Relations Officer at UNEB, assured stakeholders that the Board is handling the matter with urgency.
“UNEB reassures the parents and candidates of Bamure Primary School, as well as all concerned stakeholders, that the recovered scripts will be marked expeditiously and the candidates graded in time for the selection and placement exercise,” she said.
UNEB emphasized its continued commitment to safeguarding the integrity of national examinations and ensuring fairness for all candidates.
