The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, has commended the Board of Governors (BoG) of Trinity College Nabbingo for its strategic vision in providing a holistic and well-grounded education that empowers the girl child to become a confident and capable future leader.

Mayiga made the remarks over the weekend while presiding as chief guest during celebrations marking 84 years of Trinity College Nabbingo’s existence. The event was held at the college sports arena in Wakiso District.

The main celebrant was the Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rt. Rev. Severus Jjumba, who, in his homily, encouraged parents to enroll their children in schools such as Trinity College Nabbingo. He noted that the institution offers a balanced education that combines strong Christian values with academic excellence, preparing girls for future leadership and responsibilities.

As part of the celebrations, both Mayiga and Bishop Jjumba planted commemorative trees in recognition of the college’s dedicated efforts in providing quality education to generations of young women.

The leaders later unveiled the proposed new school gate, a landmark project symbolizing the college’s continued growth and commitment to excellence as it celebrates 84 years of nurturing leaders.

“Our young people must remain faithful to God, committed to their studies, and dedicated to serving others with love and humility,” Bishop Jjumba said.

“As we celebrate 84 years of Trinity College Nabbingo, I pray that the Holy Trinity continues to guide, protect, and bless this great institution and all those who support its mission.”

The Chairperson of the Construction Committee for the proposed UGX 14 billion Trinity Junior School Project and cohort head for the 1970s, Owek. Cotilda Nakatte Kikomeko, thanked the church leadership for providing the land on which the new junior school will be constructed. She said preparations to commence construction works are already underway.

Nakatte, who currently serves as the Minister for Education, Social Services, and the Office of the Nabagereka at Mengo, appealed to old girls, well-wishers, and friends of the college to support the project through financial contributions and technical expertise.

The college headmistress, Immaculate Nasozi Lwanga, congratulated all stakeholders for their continued support towards the institution’s development agenda.

She revealed that the college registered impressive performance in both the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, with all candidates excelling and successfully transitioning to universities and Higher School Certificate (HSC) classes.

Lwanga also expressed appreciation to parents for their unwavering support, which she said has greatly contributed to the outstanding academic achievements recorded by the school.
