Upcoming singer and renowned dancer Winnie Nakafeero, popularly known as Winnie Wa Mummy, had her highly anticipated performance at the Buganda Kingdom’s annual Enkuuka Bwanguugwa show cut short due to provocative attire and suggestive dance moves.
The singer had joined fellow artist Mudra on stage toward the end of his set for a live performance of their collaborative song.
However, moments after the music started, the sound system was suddenly switched off, leaving Mudra to continue entertaining the crowd as Winnie waited on stage.
In an unexpected turn, event organizers brought a long black jacket onto the stage and asked Winnie Wa Mummy to put it on. Shortly after complying, she was instructed to leave the stage altogether.
Speculation quickly arose that the decision was linked to concerns about her outfit, which was reportedly deemed inappropriate given the presence of the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II, who was still attending the event at the time.
Soon after Winnie exited the stage, musician King Saha took over the performance slot, denying fans the chance to watch her complete the song.
This marked Winnie Wa Mummy’s second appearance at the prestigious Enkuuka event. Unlike her previous performance, however, this year’s experience ended in disappointment, sparking mixed reactions among fans.
Supporters have since voiced hope that future editions of the Enkuuka show will allow the singer and other performers to take the stage without interruptions, ensuring fairness and full performances for all invited artists.
