In a spirited rally in Amuria District, Nandala Mafabi, a leading opposition figure, delivered a powerful message to voters, emphasizing that the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has the most comprehensive and forward-looking manifesto in this campaign.
Mafabi declared that his team is committed to transforming Uganda’s future with concrete plans to fight corruption and stimulate economic growth.
“Every year, over shs10 trillion is stolen from our nation. I pledge to put an end to this theft and ensure our resources benefit the people,” Mafabi stated passionately.
He outlined a vision for economic revival, including establishing a mega starch factory in Teso, which could generate significant revenue on the global market, with starch selling at USD 360 per kilogram.
Mafabi also emphasized the importance of revitalizing cooperative movements nationwide and operationalizing an Agricultural Bank to support farmers and the agricultural sector.
A cooperative bank would provide vital financial services to empower local farmers and entrepreneurs.
Addressing the long-standing leadership of President Museveni, Mafabi acknowledged his contributions but pointed out that “40 years is a very long period. What has not been achieved in this time cannot be done in five years.”
He referenced historical and religious figures, King David, Jesus Christ, and even the fasting periods observed by Muslims, highlighting the significance of the number 40 as a symbol of transition.
“We are not witch-hunting, but it’s time for fresh blood and new ideas to lead Uganda into a prosperous future,” Mafabi concluded, calling for a change in leadership to unlock the country’s full potential.
