JINJA CITY: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate, has concluded his 22-day campaign trail across Eastern Uganda.

The President wrapped up the regional tour on Friday 21st November, with a major rally at the Kyabazinga Grounds in Bugembe, which drew thousands of supporters from Jinja City and Jinja District.

During the rally, President Museveni highlighted key achievements in social services and infrastructure within the region. He noted significant progress in the health sector, including the establishment of health facilities at all levels in both Jinja District and Jinja City, as well as the operation of a Regional Referral Hospital serving the wider region.

On road infrastructure, the President assured residents that funding has been secured to fast-track the construction of the Jinja–Budondo–Mbulamuti–Kamuli Road. He also promised the completion of maintenance works along the Jinja–Kampala Highway, complementing the expanding network of tarmac roads in eastern Uganda.

Speaking to journalists last evening, Hon. David Calvin Echodu, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, described the 22-day campaign tour as “fruitful and inspiring.”

“We have had the honor of traveling with the President and supporting him as he presented his seven matafali—the seven key contributions that him and the NRM have laid as building blocks for the House of Uganda,” Hon. Echodu said.

He commended the people of Eastern Uganda for warmly receiving the President’s message and showing renewed enthusiasm for the party.

“It has been an interesting journey seeing how the population is responding. The structure-based campaign approach is working very well. The grassroots are mobilized, energized, and actively participating. The unity and numbers we witnessed show that NRM remains strong in the region,” he noted.

Hon. Echodu also expressed gratitude to the NRM Secretariat, the Secretary General, and the entire presidential campaign team for their coordination and teamwork throughout the tour.

He further applauded political leaders and party structures across Teso, Bugisu, Sebei, Bukedi, and Busoga for rallying behind the President and demonstrating impressive unity, particularly in Busoga.

“I congratulate all NRM members in Eastern Uganda for their dedication and support. I encourage them not to relax but to continue taking the President’s message down to the parish level,” he urged.

President Museveni is expected to begin his campaign trail in the Kigezi sub-region on Monday, next week.
