Police in Naggalama have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the gruesome murder of a 90-year-old woman in Magonga Village, Kiwafu Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county, Mukono District.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Onyango Henry, a peasant from the same village, was arrested following the death of Negesa Christine, a nonagenarian and long-time resident of the area.
The incident occurred on the morning of September 20, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m. Onyango was allegedly seen leaving the victim’s home shortly before concerned relatives found Negesa Christine lying in a pool of blood with deep wounds to her head. Police say the nature of the injuries suggested she had been attacked with a sharp object.
“Upon receiving the report, our officers responded swiftly to the scene. Statements were recorded from first responders and eyewitnesses. The suspect was subsequently apprehended and taken back to the crime scene for reconstruction,” SSP Onyango stated.
During the crime scene reconstruction, police recovered a blood-stained panga believed to have been used in the attack, along with a shoe that allegedly belonged to the suspect and had been left behind during his escape.
“The suspect later led investigators to a nearby well, where he admitted to having washed the murder weapon,” Onyango added.
Negesa Christine’s body was conveyed to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination as inquiries continue. Investigators are now working to establish a clear motive for the killing and whether Onyango acted alone or had accomplices.
Onyango assured the public that the suspect remains in custody as investigations proceed, and that justice will be pursued to full extent.
