Security agencies have arrested a 41-year-old man in connection with the brutal killing of an 18-year-old student in Wakiso District earlier this month.
According to a statement issued by Rachel Kawala, spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan area, the suspect, identified as Herbert Musasizi, was apprehended in Gulu District following a manhunt.
The victim, Martin Bukenya, a student at Hillside Secondary School Matugga, was allegedly beaten to death on February 14, 2026, at around 8:00pm.
The incident occurred in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.
Police reports indicate that the teenager had been found inside the suspect’s residence before the fatal assault took place. Authorities allege that the confrontation escalated, resulting in the violent attack that claimed the young man’s life.
Bukenya, who was a resident of Kirinyabigo in Kawanda, Nabweru Division, had been pursuing his studies at the time of his death.
Kawala said Musasizi is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
She urged members of the public to remain calm and allow due process to take its course as detectives piece together the events that led to the tragic killing.
