CRIME: Police have finally arrested one of the suspects who together with the other still at large allegedly attacked and robbed another boda boda rider.
According to the police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, Racheal Kawaka one suspect has been arrested in connection with aggravated robbery that happened in Sumbwe village ,Sumbwe parish Wakiso district on one Ssesanga Equiam.
Preliminary findings indicate that on February 13, 2026 at about 10:00pm, the victim, a resident of Sumbwe Village, Sumbwe Parish in Wakiso District, was riding home when he picked up two men around Busega who had disguised themselves as passengers heading to Sumbwe Village.
However, upon reaching Sumbwe, the two men reportedly pulled out a panga and attacked the victim, cutting his riding helmet before robbing him of his red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UMA 191DV, and a mobile phone.
Kawala said on March 9, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation, one suspect was arrested from Kikunyu Village, Kamengo in Mpigi District.
She said the suspect is a bodaboda rider and a resident of the said area.
During the operation, several exhibits were recovered, including a mobile phone believed to belong to the victim, a numberless motorcycle, and two other motorcycles UEB 559Q and UEC 678N.
She noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
