Police in Luwero District have launched investigations into the mysterious deaths of two siblings discovered lifeless inside a makeshift tent in the early hours of April 1, 2026, in a case suspected to involve suffocation.
The victims, identified as Richard Sobya, 36, and Grace Nalubwama, 43, were casual laborers and residents of Kyambogo village in Butuntumula Sub-county.

The pair had reportedly been working together to cultivate approximately three acres of beans on family land in Kibiike village, where they had erected a temporary tent to stay overnight due to the distance from their homes.
According to police, the grim discovery was made by Richard’s wife, who had joined the siblings to assist with the farming work.

At around 8:00am, she woke up and attempted to rouse the two, but they did not respond.

When she touched them, she realized they were already dead.

Moments later, she began to feel weak and disoriented herself.
In a desperate effort to survive, the woman reportedly crawled out of the tent and made her way toward the village, where a passerby came to her aid.

Police reports indicate that  she was later rushed to Butuntumula Health Centre III for treatment.
Local authorities were alerted, and officers from Luwero Police swiftly responded to the scene, where they found the bodies lying inside the tent. The area was documented, statements were recorded from witnesses, and a homicide team was notified to support the ongoing investigation.
The bodies of the deceased have since been transferred to Luwero Hospital for postmortem examination as detectives work to establish the exact cause of death.
While suffocation remains a leading line of inquiry, police say investigations are still ongoing to determine what led to the fatal incident that has left the community in shock.
