The race for the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) chairmanship has tightened as Hon. Gideon Onyango officially entered the contest, unveiling Mr. Yuduf Meyan Yusuf as his running mate for vice chairman.
Their declaration has injected fresh intensity into an already competitive campaign, signaling that the battle for the sport’s top administrative seat is far from settled.
Emerging with confidence, the Onyango–Meyan ticket wasted no time projecting strength, drawing immediate attention from across Uganda’s pool fraternity. Their candidacy is buoyed by a coalition of influential figures, including respected club leaders such as Dr. Achaye of Club 408 and Nakawa Pool Rangers chairman Moses Waiswa.
The duo has also secured the backing of elite players who have shaped the national game, among them celebrated cueist Alfred Gumikiriza, widely known as “Blacksheep,” alongside Rukia Naiga and reigning Ladies National Champion Rashida Mutesi.
The growing alliance extends further, with Mukono’s Sumaiyah Namutebi and national team captain Amina Faith Nganda herself vying for the Ladies Secretary position, adding momentum to a campaign that is quickly gathering national traction.
With such a formidable support base, Onyango and Meyan’s entry has effectively transformed the chairmanship race into a high-stakes contest defined by influence, ambition, and the promise of change.
As the campaign unfolds, attention now turns to whether this newly formed powerhouse can convert its early surge into victory, and, more importantly, whether it can deliver a new chapter for Ugandan pool.
