A pre-dawn police operation in Busega, a suburb of Kampala, in Rubaga Division, has led to the recovery of two suspected stolen cows after occupants of a vehicle fled upon interception.
According to police, officers attached to Nateete Police Station acted swiftly on a tip-off received at around 4:00am on April 29, 2026, about a vehicle allegedly transporting stolen livestock.
The team tracked and intercepted a silver Toyota X-Trail, registration number UAS 521W, along Busega Road opposite the main market.
However, upon being stopped, the occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle and escaped, disappearing into nearby areas. A subsequent search of the car revealed two live cows believed to have been stolen.
The vehicle was impounded and towed to Nateete Police Station, where it remains as investigations continue.
Authorities have since opened a case of possession of suspected stolen cattle and launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.
In a related crackdown on crime, police conducted coordinated operations across Nateete and Busega zones in Rubaga Division, Kampala District, resulting in the arrest of 30 suspects linked to various offenses.
Meanwhile, officers in Kira Division aldo goiled an attempted break-in in Bbuto Zone, Bweyogerere, arresting two suspects who were allegedly trying to break into shops.
A screwdriver believed to have been intended for use in the crime was recovered and recorded as evidence.
All suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to face court proceedings as investigations progress.
Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala emphasizing that operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to combat crime in Kampala and surrounding areas.
