A coordinated operation by Kampala Metropolitan Police has led to the safe rescue of a seven-year-old girl who was abducted earlier this week, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The child, identified as Natukunda Precious, was reportedly kidnapped on April 27, 2026 from Galabi Village in Namataba Town Council, Mukono District.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesman, the suspect, Ivan Masaba Kutosi, allegedly took the child, prompting her mother to file an immediate report that triggered a rapid police response.
Security teams launched a joint operation the following day, tracing the suspect to areas within Bweyogerere before apprehending him in Kasubi Centre.
Upon arrest, the suspect reportedly guided officers to Equator Guest House, where the young victim was found unharmed.
Police also detained the guest house manager, Nangobi Anna, who is expected to assist with ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Authorities confirmed the recovery of a mobile phone believed to have been used by the suspect during the crime. Investigations remain ongoing as police work to establish further details.
Owoyesigyire, praised the swift coordination of officers involved in the operation, underscoring the force’s commitment to ensuring public safety.
