KAMPALA — Vision Vision Group has appointed Sidney Miria Babanga as its new Editor-in-Chief, replacing Barbara Kaija who is set to retire at the end of June 2026 after more than 30 years of service.

The appointment was announced on Thursday by Vision Group Chief Executive Officer Don Wanyama in an internal communication to staff.

Wanyama said the board of directors approved the appointment to ensure a seamless transition and continuity at the media company.

Babanga currently serves as Content Manager–Special Projects at Vision Group and has worked at the company for 26 years.

He joined the media house in 2000 as a freelance journalist before rising through various editorial positions including sub editor, Sunday Magazine Editor, Deputy Regional News Editor, Regional News Editor and Supplements Editor.

“As Editor-in-Chief, Sidney will provide overall editorial leadership, strategic direction and quality control for all content across Vision Group’s media platforms,” Wanyama said in the communication.

He added that Babanga is expected to drive innovation, audience engagement and cross-platform integration across the company’s newspaper, television, radio and digital platforms.

Wanyama also praised Kaija for her “dedicated and sterling service” to the company over the last three decades.
