KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Roke Telkom has launched Roke@20 celebrations, marking 20 years of innovation, resilience and contribution to Uganda’s telecommunications and ICT sector. The breakfast launch, held at Roke House in Bugolobi, was graced by Hon. Nyombi Thembo, Guest of Honour, and brought together industry stakeholders, partners, and customers.
Founded by Ugandans with a vision of making internet access available to underserved communities, businesses and locations, Roke Telkom has evolved over the past two decades from an internet connectivity provider into a comprehensive ICT solutions company.
Speaking at the launch, Peter Muhumuza, the Roke Telkom Chief Executive Officer said the anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate the company’s journey while reaffirming its commitment to Uganda’s digital development. “Twenty years ago, we started with a simple but important ambition: to make internet access more accessible to Ugandans. Through resilience, investment and continuous innovation, we have grown beyond connectivity into a company providing ICT solutions that respond to the evolving needs of businesses and organisations. We are proud of how far we have come and excited about what the future holds,” Muhumuza said.
Over the years, Roke has invested in infrastructure, built strategic partnerships and continuously adapted to changes in technology and customer expectations. Its evolution reflects the growing demand for reliable connectivity and integrated technology solutions across different sectors.
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Nyombi Thembo commended Roke Telkom for its contribution to Uganda’s telecommunications and ICT landscape, noting the importance of homegrown companies in advancing the country’s digital transformation. “Uganda’s digital transformation depends on the continued growth of a strong and innovative ICT sector. Homegrown companies such as Roke Telkom play an important role in expanding connectivity, supporting businesses and contributing to the development of our digital ecosystem. As we look ahead, continued investment, innovation and collaboration will be critical in ensuring that technology creates opportunities for more Ugandans,” he said.
As a proudly Ugandan company, Roke Telkom takes pride in its role in supporting the country’s digital development and contributing to an increasingly connected economy. The Roke@20 celebrations will provide an opportunity to reflect on the company’s milestones, recognise the customers, employees and partners who have shaped its journey, and highlight its ambitions for the future.
