The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has secured the conviction of Rev. Fr. Dominic Alinga over the murder of John Bosco Ngorok and the attempted murder of Moses Abigaba.
The charges stem from an incident on 2 August 2024, in which Rev. Fr. Alinga was accused of attacking Ngorok after allegedly believing that Ngorok had revealed information that contributed to his suspension.

Prosecutors told court that Alinga lured Ngorok into a meeting and, while they were travelling towards Entebbe, attacked and stabbed him.
As Ngorok attempted to seek help, Moses Abigaba intervened.

Court heard that Abigaba was also attacked during the incident, after which Alinga allegedly struck both men with a vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Ngorok later died from the injuries sustained.
Following the incident, Rev. Fr. Alinga reportedly attempted to conceal evidence and travelled to Tororo, where he later confessed to another priest before surrendering himself to police.
On 23 July 2026, Rev. Fr. Dominic Alinga appeared before Hon. Lady Justice Flavia Nabakooza at the Entebbe High Court. The prosecution was represented by Entebbe Resident State Attorney Janet Kitimbo on behalf of the ODPP.
He pleaded guilty to charges of murder and attempted murder.

The court convicted him and sentenced him to 21 years’ imprisonment for murder and 10 years for attempted murder, with the sentences to run concurrently.

The court also issued a compensation order for Moses Abigaba.
The ODPP stated that the conviction demonstrates that criminal accountability applies to every individual regardless of profession, social status, or position in society.

Officials noted that the case reinforces the principle that no person is above the law, including those holding religious or public roles.
The ODPP commended the prosecutors and investigators involved in securing the conviction while expressing sympathy to the victim’s family and all those affected by the tragedy.

The office said the outcome reflects the justice system’s commitment to addressing acts of violence and upholding the rule of law.
