A man accused of making false sodomy allegations against Robert Kayanja of Lubaga Miracle Centre Cathedral has told court that his actions were driven by a salary dispute.
Appearing in court on July 27, 2026, Ssentongo Reagan said his initial intention was to recover unpaid wages he claimed were owed to him after working as a security manager at the pastor’s farm in Kiryandongo.
While under cross-examination by Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya, Ssentongo admitted that he made the allegations after being influenced by colleagues. However, he insisted that his primary objective was to recover his salary arrears and not to falsely accuse Pastor Kayanja.
Prosecution presented several messages allegedly sent by Ssentongo to Pastor Kayanja between May and July 2021, repeatedly requesting payment of his outstanding wages. In one of the messages, Ssentongo reportedly asked for part of the money to help him start a small business in his village, citing financial struggles.
When questioned about whether he was seeking payment in relation to the allegations or his salary, Ssentongo maintained that he was only demanding payment for work he had done and would continue pursuing it until he was paid. He also confirmed that by May 2021, he had already left his employment at the farm.
The court further heard that Ssentongo later sent an apology message to Pastor Kayanja, saying he had acted on advice from others and did not intend to harm him.
According to the prosecution, after failing to obtain the money, Ssentongo allegedly embarked on a campaign to pressure the pastor by engaging bloggers, including Fred Lumbuye and SB4, and communicating with individuals described as long-time critics of Pastor Kayanja.
Evidence presented in court also included messages allegedly linking Ssentongo and his associates to Jackson Ssenyonga, as well as screenshots of conversations involving Kisakye Collins and pastors Solomon Male and David Kiganda, whom the prosecution claims were part of a scheme to tarnish Kayanja’s reputation.
The court also listened to audio recordings in which Ssentongo was allegedly heard discussing plans to involve Salt FM, a radio station associated with Aloysius Bugingo.
Ssentongo acknowledged that the voice in the recordings was his.
Muwaganya told court that Ssentongo’s objective was to force Pastor Kayanja to pay him and suggested that he intended to escalate the situation if the money was not paid. Ssentongo agreed with this assertion.
Court heard that Ssentongo’s outstanding salary balance as of May 2021 stood at Sh4 million, which he confirmed.
The case was adjourned to August 6, 2026, to allow the defence more time to re-examine Ssentongo and present another witness.
