The Indo Africa Charitable Society Uganda has donated a brand-new mobile medical laboratory ambulance to the Buganda Kingdom to support clinical outreach services ahead of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s 33rd Coronation Anniversary. The donation was officially handed over on Thursday, July 30, 2026, during the climax of the royal gifts presentation ceremony at Lubiri, Mengo. The event, presided over by Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, saw individuals, companies, and organizations present food, beverages, livestock, and other gifts in celebration of the King’s anniversary, which will be marked on Friday, July 31, at Watoto Church, Bweyogerere in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

The Tata-branded vehicle, valued at approximately USD 60,000 (about Shs200 million), is a specialized mobile medical laboratory equipped to provide instant blood testing, emergency medical response, and ambulance services during community health outreaches.

The Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, H.E. Upender Singh, represented by the Head of Chancery and Second Secretary for Consular and Cultural Affairs, H.E. Anantha S. R. Iyer, joined officials from the Indo Africa Charitable Society to hand over the vehicle keys to Katikkiro Mayiga.

In his message, High Commissioner Singh congratulated Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II on his 33rd Coronation Anniversary and reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relationship between India and the Buganda Kingdom. He wished the Kabaka good health and continued prosperity.Deepak Sharma, a director of the Indo Africa Charitable Society Uganda and Managing Director of Aiveen Pharmaceuticals Ltd, said the organization chose to donate the mobile laboratory because of Buganda Kingdom’s strong commitment to improving healthcare for its people.

He noted that the vehicle will enable medical teams to conduct instant blood tests in remote communities during health outreach programmes, improving early diagnosis and treatment.

Sharma added that the society has so far conducted 17 free medical camps across Uganda, benefiting more than 30,000 vulnerable people, and pledged continued collaboration with the Buganda Kingdom’s Ministry of Health to ensure the ambulance is effectively utilized.

Receiving the donation, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga described the gift as timely and strategic, saying access to instant blood testing would greatly improve medical decision-making and patient care during outreach programmes.

Mayiga also received gifts from all the 18 counties of Buganda Kingdom and commended the Coronation Organising Committee, led by Joseph Kawuki, for successfully preparing the celebrations.

He urged all invited guests to drive carefully and keep time as they attend the anniversary celebrations.
