EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE (UGNEWSLINE)- Ten teachers accused of examination malpractice during the 2026 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) have been remanded to Luzira Prison until November 19, 2026.

The teachers appeared before City Hall Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu on Friday, where State Attorney Benjamin Amanya asked for more time to complete investigations, including pending forensic examinations.

The magistrate granted the request and remanded the accused.

The accused are Kasango Bumali, 43, of Desire Primary School in Mayuge District; Enyeni Paul, 44; Etok James, 57; and Semalulu Godfrey, 40, all from Hormisdallen School in Kamwokya, Kampala.

Others are Wandera Raphael, 29, of Mastered Seed School in Lwengo; Acio Gloria, 34, and Nantongo Judith, 51, both of Daffodils Primary School; Mirembe Lydia, 38, of Tawhid Primary School in Kisenyi; Waibi Emmanuel, 31, of Nakyenyi Secondary School in Lwengo; and Nduhukire Ivan, 36, of Raise and Shine Primary School in Nakaseke.

According to the charge sheet, the accused face charges of destroying examination materials, unlawfully possessing examination papers, examination malpractice, trespass and neglecting to prevent a felony.

Prosecution alleges that Kasango destroyed a delivery envelope containing PLE Mathematics examination scripts on November 3, 2026, at Ndangoro Primary School in Rubirizi District.

Enyeni, Etok, Wandera, Semalulu and Nduhukire are accused of unlawfully possessing the 2026 PLE Mathematics examination paper.

Acio and Nantongo allegedly provided candidates with written answers to the Mathematics examination at Hormisdallen Primary School in Kamwokya.

Mirembe is accused of trespassing into examination premises at the same school during the examinations.

Waibi, who was serving as chief invigilator at Mastered Seed Primary School in Lwengo, is accused of failing to stop Nduhukire from allegedly possessing the examination paper inside the examination room despite knowing about it.
