COURT (UGNEWSLINE) – A Kampala-based photographer has been remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly defrauding National Youth MP Mercy Kanyesigye of Shs250,000 in a deal involving photography services.
Perez Madumaa, 27, who lives along Kisasi Kanyanya Road in Nakawa Division, is accused of taking the money after promising to photograph the legislator at a youth conference in Kamuli District.
Prosecution alleges that Madumaa received the money from Kanyesigye at Parliament in October 2026 but did not deliver the promised service.
He appeared before City Hall Court on Friday and was charged with obtaining money by false pretence, an offence under Section 285 of the Penal Code Act.
State Attorney Benjamin Amanya told Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu that investigations into the case were complete.
The magistrate remanded Madumaa until November 19, 2026, for further proceedings.
The offence attracts a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment upon conviction.
