Territorial Police of Katwe Kabatoro Division in Kasese District is currently investigating circumstances sorounding the death of a one Mumbere Andres aged 30 yrs old, Resident of Rwenjubu Cell in Rwenjubu Ward , Katwe Kabatoro Town Council.
It is alleged that the deceased on the 18th April 2025, at approximately 1200hrs went for illegal fishing at the Shores of Lake Edward and unknowningly entered a breeding zone for deadly Crocodiles and Hippos, the said fisher man was using hooking method of fishing and a huge Crocodile jumped on him , took him in the waters for some time.
Nelson Tumushime SP Spokesperson Police Kasese said that Marines Police responded and recovered some body parts of the deceased at approximately 1400hrs, but unfortunately the leg, arms and been chewed by the Crocodile.
He cautioned Fisher men at the lake to avoid fishing in breeding zones for crocodiles at the shores of Lake Edward.
He noted that Marine police will continue to carry out patrols on the lake to deter illegal fishing on the lake, adding that arrests and prosecution will be made on fisher men that will not follow the guidelines issued.
