BUDUDA District- Outgoing Bududa District LCV Chairperson, Milton Kamoto Wasunguyi, has appealed to voters to grant him a second term in office so he can continue his efforts to combat climate change and restore the forest cover on the slopes of Mt. Elgon.

The area has long been plagued by deadly mudslides, largely attributed to deforestation and unsustainable farming practices.

Speaking shortly after his official nomination to contest for re-election, Wasunguyi emphasized his commitment to environmental conservation.

He said he is actively working with development partners to implement sustainable solutions aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change and reducing the frequency and impact of landslides in the district.

Beyond environmental efforts, Wasunguyi outlined plans to continue improving social infrastructure. These include the construction of schools, health centers, and an improved road network—areas he acknowledged still face significant challenges.

He also pledged to continue lobbying for vocational training and empowerment programs targeting youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
