Police in the Kigezi Region have launched investigations into the death of a couple whose bodies were discovered inside their home in Rukungiri District.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Rugando Village, Nyakinengo Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub-county.
According to the police report, the deceased have been identified as Cosma Tushabirane, 40, and Speria Ayebare, 34, both residents of Rugando Village.
Police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths.
It is alleged that the duo
Tushabirane and his wife Ayebare (all deceased) sent their three children to church and on return , the children found all doors of the house closed from inside.
Nelson Tumushime, the area police spokesman, the eldest became suspicious and pushed the door hard only to find their father’s body swinging on the rope.
He said police was notified and swiftly responded, and upon search, another body of Ayebare (wife to Tushabirane) was recovered in their bed room in a poll of blood.
Police conveyed the two bodies to Rwakabengo Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem Examination.
He said investigations are still ongoing.
