KAMPALA, Uganda: The commercial minister at the Egyptian Embassy in Uganda, His Excellency Elkhagawa Alaa, has commended the Ugandan government for fostering a conducive investment climate that continues to attract foreign companies and support the country’s economic growth.
The envoy made the remarks on March 26, 2026, while touring the Oxyplus Services Ltd exhibition stall shortly after the official opening of the three-day 5th edition of the Uganda Pharma Healthcare Expo 2026 and conference, taking place from March 26–28 at the UMA Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo.
He applauded Ramesh Halai, Managing Director of Oxyplus Services Ltd, for investing in Uganda, noting that such initiatives support the government’s Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy, which promotes high-quality locally produced goods and services.
The envoy further emphasized that the Egyptian government remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Uganda and encouraging more Egyptian investors to explore opportunities in the country.
In his remarks, the High Commissioner of India to Uganda, Upender Singh Rawat, praised Uganda’s open-door policy under President Yoweri Museveni, noting that it has enabled investors to contribute significantly to the country’s development and job creation.
He added that India will continue to enhance bilateral cooperation with Uganda for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Speaking at the same event, Mr. Halai thanked the visiting dignitaries for their support, describing the engagement as a demonstration of strong collaboration within the healthcare and manufacturing sectors.

He added that the company supplies a wide range of firefighting equipment, including hoses, extinguishers, breathing apparatus, protective clothing, fire alarms, and suppression systems to enhance safety and effective fire management.
Located opposite Centenary Bank Kireka branch, the company also offers products such as liquid nitrogen, food-grade carbon dioxide, and dry ice, all produced to high standards for public use.
The expo has attracted more than 100 exhibitors from eight countries, including India, China, Vietnam, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Egypt, and Uganda.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Access, Quality and Sustainability in Healthcare for All,” the conference complements this with a focus on “Access to Quality and Affordable Medicines for All.”
The event was officially opened by the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Charles Olaro, representing the Minister of Health, Ruth Aceng.
Dr. Olaro commended Digvijay Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Exhibitions and Trade Services India Private Ltd, for working closely with Ugandan partners to bring vital healthcare services, products, and information closer to the public.
Key partners in organizing the event include the Ministry of Health, Uganda Manufacturers Association, Uganda Dental Association, Uganda Healthcare Federation, the Orthopedic Society of Uganda, and the Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council.
