KAMPALA, Uganda: Deputy Resident City Commissioner (DRCC) for Lubaga Division, Moses Ariho, has launched the division’s Kampala Metropolitan Emyooga SACCO Leaders’ Presidential Vote Mobilization Task Force, which has been mandated to canvass votes for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate.
Ariho made the remarks on 5th December 2025 at the Lubaga Division Headquarters gardens during an event that brought together leaders from the 18 Emyooga SACCOs in the division to devise strategies for mobilizing support for their presidential candidate, H.E. Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa.
He noted that the NRM government, through the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC), has so far disbursed UGX 3.9 billion to beneficiaries under the 18 Emyooga SACCOs in the division, in addition to another UGX 3.9 billion allocated under the Parish Development Model (PDM) as part of the government’s manifesto commitments.
Ariho emphasized the need for citizens to vote President Museveni back into office to safeguard the progress achieved over the past four decades of NRM leadership, especially in empowering communities to fight poverty.
He commended the division commercial officer and his technical team for effectively managing the Emyooga program and ensuring loan recovery to allow more beneficiaries to access funds. He tasked SACCO leaders to conduct door-to-door mobilization within their communities and work tirelessly to secure another presidential term for Museveni.
State House Emyooga Coordinator, Biira Janet, thanked the SACCO leaders for their strong mobilization efforts, noting that they have now been assigned a fresh mandate to recruit more community members into Emyooga SACCOs in preparation for an upcoming new funding package.
The Chairperson of the Kampala Metropolitan Emyooga SACCO Leaders’ Presidential Vote Mobilization Team, Tumwebaze Richard—whose office oversees more than 20 Emyooga divisions across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan area—highlighted the importance of teamwork in ensuring overwhelming support for their candidate in the January 15th presidential polls.
Tumwebaze urged opposition members to acknowledge the achievements of the NRM government, including improvements in education, healthcare, security, and economic empowerment, and to vote for President Museveni for the continued progress of the country.
Officials from the Microfinance Support Centre expressed appreciation to the people of Lubaga Division for their active participation in government economic empowerment programs, which they said are helping households overcome poverty. They pledged to continue fulfilling their mandate of disbursing Emyooga funds to all well-organized SACCOs.
