Defeated State Minister for Works, Musa Ecweru, showed up at Kyadondo to submit his election petition to the tribunal, expressing dissatisfaction with what he called a flawed electoral process.
Ecweru, who arrived in his official ministry vehicle (UG3800089), walked straight to the election tribunal tent and, without mincing words, handed in his petition. He later addressed the press.
He lost the Amuria County seat in Amuria District, Teso Sub-region, to Sam Ediau, who secured 29,352 votes against Ecweru’s 19,977.
Ecweru claimed he had never witnessed an election where children as young as seven years old were allowed to vote at gazetted polling centers without any shame.
“I was shocked to see children as young as seven lining up to be counted by election officials with ease and comfort. This is criminal and unacceptable under the NRM election guidelines,” lamented the visibly disappointed minister, who then drove off at breakneck speed.
