Minister Nameere apologises to Gen. Muhoozi over edited video, Muhoozi forgives her

Junior Minister for Local Government Justine Nameere has apologised to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba following a controversy sparked by a video circulating on social media, which she says was deliberately edited to make it appear as though she was attacking him.
In a post on X, Nameere said the video had been manipulated and that she would never deliberately attack Muhoozi, whom she referred to as her “Brother.”
“My sincere apology to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba regarding a video that unscrupulous people maliciously edited and put your name! I can NEVER attack you my Brother! Heshima”
Nameere also accused those responsible for circulating the video of attempting to create divisions and cited Proverbs 6:19, which condemns false witnesses and those who sow discord.
The apology follows days of tension after a short video clip circulated online and was interpreted as Nameere taking aim at Muhoozi.

The situation escalated after Muhoozi publicly criticised Nameere and warned that she could face political consequences if she did not apologise.
Gen. Muhoozi responds, instructs PLU to stop attacking her
In a direct response through his official X handle, Gen. Muhoozi accepted Nameere’s apology and announced that he had forgiven her, effectively drawing a line under the immediate dispute.
“I have hereby forgiven my dear sister Hon. @JustineNameere. I do not hold grudges against people. I wish all well. The matter is settled. PLU is instructed to stop attacking her from this day on.”
Muhoozi’s response not only accepts Nameere’s apology but also instructs members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) to stop attacking her, signalling an end to the public confrontation between the two.
Nameere has maintained that the viral clip did not accurately represent her remarks or the person she was addressing.

According to her explanation, the video was edited and Muhoozi’s name was inserted or associated with her comments, creating the impression that she was directly confronting the Chief of Defence Forces.
Her apology therefore appears to have been intended to resolve the immediate dispute while maintaining that she did not deliberately insult or attack Muhoozi.
The episode comes amid broader political disagreements involving Nameere, PLU and other figures within Muhoozi’s political network, including her reported differences with Daudi Kabanda.
For now, however, Muhoozi’s public forgiveness and instruction to PLU members to stop attacking Nameere mark a significant de-escalation of the dispute.
