KAMPALA, Uganda: MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited (MTN MoMo) on Wednesday 25th launched the next phase of its flagship “Power to Be More” campaign, dubbed “The Power of MoMo,” a bold initiative aimed at making digital payments a natural, everyday habit for Ugandans.

Building on the success of the 2025 campaign that repositioned MoMo as a comprehensive financial ecosystem, this new phase sharpens its focus on payments, encouraging customers to move away from cash and embrace the convenience, security, and flexibility of MTN MoMo.

At the heart of the campaign is a compelling value proposition where all payments below UGX 5,000 will be free. This move is designed to remove cost barriers and accelerate the adoption of digital payments for everyday transactions, from transport and market purchases to small retail payments.

Speaking at the launch, Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer at MTN MoMo said: “This next phase of our campaign is about embedding MoMo into the daily lives of Ugandans in a way that feels simple, natural, and rewarding. By making payments below UGX 5,000 free, we are directly addressing one of the biggest barriers to digital adoption and giving our customers a compelling reason to choose MoMo over cash every single day. Beyond convenience, MoMo offers a safer, more reliable way to transact, with the added benefit of keeping a record of every payment.”

She added that the campaign reflects MTN MoMo’s continued commitment to empowering customers with tools that go beyond basic transactions. “When you use MoMo, you unlock so much more than just payments. You gain access to savings, loans, investments, and even global transactions through the virtual card. This is what we mean by the Power of MoMo, it’s about giving every Ugandan the ability to do more with their money, right from their phone.”

To bring the campaign to life, MTN MoMo is rolling out an engaging “12-hour cashless challenge,” where influencers went through an entire day without using cash. Through a series of real-time video updates audiences will experience firsthand how MoMo seamlessly supports everyday transactions across Kampala, from paying for a boda ride and buying breakfast at the market to settling bills and making purchases at local shops.

The campaign also encourages Ugandans to reflect on their own payment habits and consider the advantages of going cashless. From eliminating the need to carry physical money and avoiding the hassle of finding change, to ensuring secure and instant transactions, MoMo presents a clear and practical alternative for modern life.

Customers can participate in the campaign and enjoy the benefits of free payments by using the MTN MoMo app or by dialing *165*3# on their mobile phones. Through these channels, users can not only make payments but also access a wide range of financial services including sending and receiving money, borrowing, saving, and investing.

As Uganda continues its journey toward a more digitally inclusive economy, MTN MoMo remains committed to leading the charge by delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions that empower individuals and businesses alike. With “The Power of MoMo,” the company is reinforcing its promise to be a trusted partner in progress, helping Ugandans move confidently into a cashless future.
