The third season of the NCBA Uganda Junior Golf Series is officially underway, marking a major step forward in the development of young golf talent across the country.
This year’s edition promises not just more competition, but greater impact — offering children aged 6 to 18 a platform to sharpen their golf skills, gain international exposure, and grow into confident, disciplined, and resilient individuals.
Speaking during the awards ceremony held at Serena Kigo Golf Course, Edgar Tusiime, Head of Marketing at NCBA Bank Uganda, emphasized the series’ broader mission beyond sport.
“We’re not just building golfers, we’re shaping future leaders. The NCBA Junior Golf Series is a tool for transformation — building confidence, resilience, and leadership in young people,” he said.
This season introduces expanded training programs and greater international opportunities, giving standout players a chance to qualify for top-tier global competitions like the Rome Classic in Italy and the Big 5 Junior Golf Championship in South Africa.
The series has already made significant impact. Since its inception, 18 standout golfers — ten boys and eight girls — have risen through its ranks to become some of Uganda’s most promising young talents. Tusiime highlighted success stories, including two players who were sponsored to compete in the Kenya Invitational Tournament, where they finished 2nd and 8th, respectively.
These achievements are helping Uganda cement its status as East Africa’s second-strongest junior golf nation, showing how far the sport has come locally.
Theo Van Rooyen, Director of U.S. Kids Golf in Uganda, praised the initiative for its long-term impact.
“The NCBA Junior Golf Series has become a cornerstone of Uganda’s sports scene. It’s not just about golf — it’s about nurturing a lifelong passion, building character, and opening doors for young people,” he noted.
Backed by a strong partnership between NCBA Bank and U.S. Kids Golf, the series continues to serve as a critical pipeline for talent development — connecting young players with training, mentorship, and pathways to global recognition.
