City Hall Magistrates Court has remanded businessman Christian Asiimwe, popularly known as Don Chris, to Luzira Prison over allegations of defrauding 127 job seekers.
Asiimwe, 32, appeared before Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu and he denied the charges of obtaining money by false pretence.
The prosecution alleges that between 2023 and 2025, Asiimwe, who is the director of Sky Pins Tour and Travel Company, collected millions of shillings from people after falsely promising to secure them jobs in countries including Canada and Luxembourg.
Among the complainants is Namuwonge Takia, who allegedly paid Shs5 million for a job in Canada, while Scovia Birabwa is said to have paid Shs7 million for a similar promise.
Kevin Kamakune allegedly paid Shs5 million for a job in Luxembourg, while Naijuka Giporous reportedly paid Shs5.2 million for employment in Canada.
The prosecution alleges that Asiimwe made the promises despite having no genuine recruitment opportunities for the jobs he advertised.
He has denied all the charges.
State Attorney Miriam Akite told court that investigations into the case are complete and asked the magistrate to set a hearing date.
Magistrate Aisu remanded Asiimwe to Luzira Prison until September 21, 2026, when he is expected to return to court
