On February 5, 2025, police conducted two intelligence-led operations in Kampala, targeting areas known for high criminal activity in which they succesdfully apprehended 24 suspects.

The first operation took place in Rubaga Division, near Monalisa bar, between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
Five suspects inckuding Kawoya Vincent, Kitayibwa Wycliffe, Muhammad Ali, Abdil Wolly, and Eriya Kula (a marijuana supplier) were arrested for simple robberies, marijuana possession, and smoking.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, said Police recovered marijuana, breaking implements, including a hammer, and charged the suspects accordingly. They are currently detained, pending court.

The second operation occurred in Katooke A and Katooke B, Wamala parish, Nansana Municipality, at around 4:45 pm.
This operation was sparked by community complaints about the “Kasoolo Group” engaging in simple robberies, phone snatching, and bag thefts.
A total of 24 suspects, mostly youths, were arrested, and exhibits recovered include a bucket of marijuana, a motorcycle number plate, and breaking implements.
Some suspects were non-residents of Nansana division, and the community identified one arrested individual as a habitual marijuana supplier.
These operations aim to restore sanity in these areas and are ongoing.
