WAKISO, Uganda : Police in Kira Division have launched investigations into a suspected human trafficking and online pornography operation following a late-night raid in Mbalwa Buyinja Zone, Kyaliwajjala, in Namugongo Division, Wakiso District.
According to police, the operation was conducted on May 18, 2026, at around 8:00 p.m. after authorities received intelligence reports indicating that several young women were being confined in a residential property under suspicious circumstances.
Security officers who responded to the scene reportedly discovered 27 females, aged between 17 and 26, living in three overcrowded rooms. Detectives also recovered several electronic devices believed to have been used in the production and distribution of online adult content, including laptops, cameras, and multiple adult devices.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, said all the women, together with one male suspect, were taken into custody to assist police with recording statements and ongoing investigations.
Preliminary findings suggest that the victims may have been involved in commercial online adult content activities allegedly coordinated by a wider criminal network.
Investigators are now pursuing leads to identify and apprehend suspected recruiters and organizers linked to the operation.
Kawala said investigations remain ongoing as authorities work to establish the full extent of the suspected trafficking and exploitation scheme.
