Police in Moyo District have arrested two suspects and are searching for another after recovering medical supplies suspected to be government property from a private clinic during an intelligence-led operation.
According to police, the operation followed intelligence alleging that government drugs were being sold at Country Medi Care, a private clinic owned by one Moses Ogwal, who also serves as the medical practitioner in charge of Lefori Health Center III, a government health facility.
“We received intelligence that government drugs were being sold at a private facility. A joint team of police officers and officials from the Office of the Resident District Commissioner conducted a search and recovered several exhibits bearing the inscriptions ‘Government of Uganda’ and ‘Not for Sale.’ Two suspects were arrested, while efforts are underway to arrest the clinic owner, who is still at large,” Asea Collins, the North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, said.
Police identified the arrested suspects as Oloya and Okello, while Ogwal remains on the run.
The case has been registered at Moyo Central Police Station under CRB 171/2026 on allegations of possession of government stores.
According to police, the recovered exhibits include a PPD register, a laboratory register, 15 cannulas, two boxes of laboratory slides, three vials of lignocaine and other medical items believed to be government property.
Investigators have recorded statements from the complainant and witnesses and are working to establish the source of the recovered drugs. Police say investigations are ongoing and that appropriate legal action will be taken against anyone found culpable.
