President Yoweri Museveni has fulfilled his pledge to support the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Dr. Grace Lubaale, by donating a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser to facilitate his pastoral work across the diocese.
The vehicle was officially handed over by Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo during a ceremony held at her office in Kampala on Saturday.
While presenting the vehicle, Alupo said the donation was a recognition of Bishop Lubaale’s service to both the Church and society.
“You will recall that during your consecration as Bishop of Busoga Diocese on December 14, 2025, I had the honour of representing His Excellency the President. On that occasion, he pledged to support your ministry with a vehicle to ease your pastoral work,” Alupo said.
“Today, I am pleased to fulfil that promise. On behalf of His Excellency, I hand over this vehicle to you. May it assist you as you reach out to the faithful across the Diocese,” she added.
The Vice President emphasized the government’s appreciation of the Church as a key partner in education, moral guidance, and community development. She commended Bishop Lubaale for his servant leadership and efforts to foster unity among the people of Busoga.
Alupo also conveyed greetings and blessings from President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, and requested the bishop’s continued prayers for the nation and its leadership.
Earlier in the day, the Vice President joined Christians at St. Charles Lwanga Parish, Ggaba, for Holy Mass, where she congratulated Ugandans on the peaceful conclusion of the 2026 election season and the subsequent political appointments.
Receiving the vehicle, Bishop Lubaale expressed gratitude to President Museveni, saying the donation would significantly enhance his ministry and outreach activities.
“This vehicle will enable me to reach different parts of the Diocese more effectively, not only to preach the Gospel of Christ but also to mobilise Christians to embrace development initiatives and fight poverty,” he said.
The bishop added that the vehicle would improve his ability to travel from parish to parish, promoting reconciliation, unity, and spiritual growth among Christians throughout the Diocese.
