President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on held a strategic meeting with members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Buganda Parliamentary Caucus at State House Entebbe, where he emphasized the importance of effective service delivery and sustainable economic development.

The meeting centered on key developmental challenges and opportunities in the Buganda region and the country at large. President Museveni urged the legislators to champion the legitimate interests of the people, noting that Buganda remains one of the primary beneficiaries of the NRM’s transformative agenda.
“You, the new leaders, need to defend the legitimate interests of the people of Uganda and Buganda,” the President said. “Buganda is a major beneficiary of the NRM revolution. Anyone who fails to see that is an enemy of Buganda.”
Highlighting the dividends of peace under the NRM government, Museveni pointed to the region’s improved infrastructure, growth in industry, and expanding economic opportunities.
He applauded the MPs for their role in mobilizing communities and monitoring government programs, stressing the need for grassroots engagement.
Looking ahead, President Museveni called on the caucus to prioritize efforts aimed at increasing household incomes, which he described as central to sustainable development.
He added that wealth creation, particularly through agriculture and commercial enterprise, should be at the heart of local development strategies.
“Strategically, Buganda is a direct beneficiary of NRM’s peace and policies,” he said. “If every household engages in wealth creation, Uganda will become one of the most developed countries in the world.”
The President also identified land fragmentation as a persistent challenge, urging legislators to support solutions that promote efficient land use and agricultural productivity.
During the meeting, Migadde Robert Ndugwa, Chairperson of the NRM Buganda Parliamentary Caucus and MP for Buvuma County, presented a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the group.
He thanked President Museveni for his leadership and reaffirmed the caucus’s commitment to supporting government programs and addressing community concerns at the constituency level.
NRM Deputy Secretary General Rose Namayanja also expressed appreciation for the President’s guidance and praised the caucus for its unity and dedication.
She encouraged the MPs to continue delivering tangible results for their constituents and strengthening the NRM’s presence in the region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed call for collaboration and commitment to advancing development goals across Buganda and Uganda as a whole.
