WAKISO – Rotary District 9214 has officially installed Rotarian Daniel Mukasa Ddamulira as District Governor-Elect and unveiled its 2026–2027 “Impact Year” strategic development plan, setting an ambitious agenda for community service across Uganda and Tanzania.

The installation ceremony, held on 1 July 2026 at Nican Resort Hotel in Kajjansi, Wakiso District, was officiated by Rotary International Director Emmanuel Katongole and marked the official transition into the new Rotary year under the theme, “Each One Engage for Impact.”

Speaking at the event, Katongole urged Rotarians to intensify efforts in the global fight against polio by mobilising communities to ensure that children receive free immunisation services.

He congratulated Ddamulira on his elevation to the district’s top leadership position, expressing confidence that he would strengthen Rotary’s humanitarian mission and advance impactful community service initiatives across the district.

The ceremony attracted more than 300 Rotarians, Rotaractors, district governors, and other distinguished guests from Uganda and Tanzania. Tanzania’s Rotary movement was represented by District Rotaract Representative (DRR) Beatha Maluari.

Hosted by the Rotary Club of Kajjansi with support from the Entebbe Road Corridor Clubs, the colourful event celebrated Rotary’s continued commitment to service above self and collective action for sustainable community development.

In his inaugural address, Ddamulira unveiled a bold vision for the 2026–2027 Rotary year centred on the theme, “Each One Engage for Impact.” He described the theme as more than a slogan, saying it is a call for every Rotarian to take personal responsibility in building stronger, more visible and impactful clubs.

He emphasized that lasting change begins with individual participation, encouraging every member to contribute in meaningful ways—whether by recruiting a new member, hosting fellowship activities, supporting The Rotary Foundation, or leading community service projects.

“Each one must do something,” Ddamulira said, stressing that Rotary achieves excellence when every member is actively engaged.

His leadership agenda is anchored on five strategic pillars, with membership growth and engagement taking centre stage. He pledged to strengthen the district’s AERA model—Attraction, Engagement, Retention and Activation—to ensure members remain active and committed to Rotary’s mission.

Ddamulira also called on clubs to assign clear responsibilities to members, empower engagement champions, and create an inclusive environment where every Rotarian feels valued, noting that retention begins with a sense of belonging.

To increase Rotary’s visibility and community impact, he announced several district-wide flagship service initiatives to be implemented across both Uganda and Tanzania during the Rotary year. These include:

A 1 July Blood Donation Drive targeting 2,000 units of blood in Uganda and another 2,000 units in Tanzania.

A 24 October World Polio Day Immunisation Campaign to support the global effort to eradicate polio.

A Go Green Day dedicated to tree planting and environmental conservation.

Mega Health Camps to expand access to essential healthcare services.

A Christmas Gift Drive to support vulnerable communities during the festive season.

Ddamulira said the initiatives are intended to make Rotary more visible, relevant and impactful within communities, while inspiring members to deliver sustainable service projects that improve lives across the two countries.
