The Executive Director of Trinity Legal Aid Foundation Uganda, Bamulabire Moses, has reminded parents of their fundamental responsibility to nurture and guide the next generation.
Speaking during an interview with this website on June 28, 2026, at the foundation’s offices in Makindye Division, Bamulabire said the rapid advancement of technology has exposed children to all kinds of online content, making parental guidance more important than ever.
He noted that parents remain the first and most influential teachers in a child’s life and should provide moral guidance and supervision to help children grow into responsible citizens.
Bamulabire emphasized that raising children is a shared responsibility involving parents, teachers, religious and cultural leaders, as well as the wider community, where children interact and access social services.
Commenting on the growing public debate over DNA testing and legal parenthood disputes, he urged families to uphold the values of marriage, whether traditional, civil, religious, or customary. He stressed that faithfulness, discipline, and mutual respect among married couples are essential in preventing domestic violence, family breakdowns, and conflicts over parenthood.
On media freedom, Bamulabire said Trinity Legal Aid Foundation believes access to information is a constitutional right that should be protected. He said citizens, civil society activists, and media practitioners should be allowed to freely disseminate accurate and factual information that promotes peace, accountability, and socio-economic development.
He also expressed concern over the recent closure of Nation Media Group’s operations by the government, saying there is a need for dialogue and constructive engagement among all stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues amicably.
According to Bamulabire, the closure has left many employees facing uncertainty over their jobs, threatening household incomes and the welfare of their families.
