Two journalists working with NBS Television under Next Media Services have died in a road accident along Entebbe Road in the early hours of Friday.
The deceased have been identified as producer Badru Kasirye and journalist Isaac Namagye, who reportedly died at the scene of the crash while returning home after working late.
Their colleague, Brian Ssemanda, popularly known as Makona, was also involved in the accident and sustained serious injuries. He is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit under close medical supervision.
In a statement issued this morning, Next Media Services, the parent company of NBS TV, confirmed the deaths and said the organisation was closely monitoring Ssemanda’s condition.
“The two unfortunately lost their lives in the accident while Makona is in the intensive care unit receiving treatment under close watch from his medical team,” the company said.
Kasirye, commonly known as Badru among his colleagues, was well known for his work on popular entertainment programmes, including After 5. He had recently been promoted to Lead Trade Marketing at Next Media, taking over from Brian Ainebyona, who died in December last year.
Next Media appealed for privacy for the families of the deceased and Ssemanda as he continues with treatment, saying further updates would be provided when confirmed.
