ETHIOPIA- Uganda’s Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo has arrived in Addis Ababa, the Capital of Ethiopia to represent President Yoweri Museveni at the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Summit.
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, the vice President was warmly received by the Ethiopian Minister of Transport and Logistics, Aleme Sime Feyisa, Uganda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rebecca Amuge, State Minister of Finance and Planning Amos Lugolobi, and Brig. Gen. Fred Zakye Kateiza, the Defense Advisor at the Uganda’s Mission in Addis Ababa and other dignitories.
The 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African union is gathering under the theme, “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”
The summit follows the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive of the Executive Council, which is currently underway in the capital. It will also feature the 35th summit of the African Peer Review (APR) forum of Heads of State and Government, during which His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be inaugurated as Chairperson of the APR forum on 13th February 2026.
The summit will also feature the meeting of the committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), to be held from 14th to 15th February 2026.
