The NRM structures elections which were held at Ongongoja secondary school in ongongoja Sub county Katakwi district saw Mary Alupo, the Ongongoja sub county Registrar declaring Alupo as Unopposed to the applause of an excited gathering.

The elections attracted electorates from all the nine parishes of Aketa Town board, Oburatum, Ongatunyo, Milimil, Obwobwo, Ongongoja, Aketa, Akomotukoi and Okuda, where each parish sent 30 electorates from different categories of special interest groups of youth, women league, NRM Main stream, elderly and veterans totaling to 270 voters.

Alupo said, the core values of NRM are nationalism, pan-Africanism, social economic transformation and democracy which is shortened as patriotism.

She said every Ugandan must have this four core values at heart.

She thanked the veteran community in Katakwi for giving her this opportunity to serve them. She also noted that, water will be connected to the nearby areas in Okuda parish.

The government is going to construct a road from Ongongoja to karamoja which will ease service delivery.

We have large sub counties like Ongongoja she said, wishing that when the president allows the creation of new administrative units, this is one of the sub counties to be divided, there also issues of the district she added.

MP Usuk county who was also an observer in the elections thanked electorates for sparing time to come and exercise their rights which is one of the core values of the NRM.

He also thanked the electorates for electing VP Alupo unopposed vote at the sub county level meanwhile prayed for the same at the district level on Saturday next week.

Those who voted Alupo unopposed included; Bastantino Ongorok, Joseph Opus, Isaac Okwaino and Charles Opio, Stanstino Eswamait.

After her elections at Ongongoja secondary school, H.E the vice president Jessica Alupo Epel joined the youth at St. Stephens catholic church in Katakwi town council where she advised them to stop misusing their rights in different forms in the name of child rights.

She called upon them to utilize the existing state organs in solving their differences stating that by doing this, they would make good leaders in the future. “Let’s solve disputes in maturely way,” she said.

Alupo reminded the youth that being part of this conference is not just simple but makes a difference as they get good advice, teachings and wisdom from the church leaders.

She left the youth with two bible scriptures, by urging them to all to love the church and God as it is stated in the Bible that, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom which teaches the children the right way; all in the book of Proverbs.

She urged them to strive to complete their education levels.

Young girls avoid Okadinong and Owokiwok, same as young boys their is drug abuse since they destroy our health. We would like your parents to keep close eye on you while you are growing.

Alupo supported the youth with 10 million and asked them to invest the money in goat rearing, adding that the move will help fight poverty in their households.

She thanked the youth for having good plans like skills development, animal rearing, poultry keeping among others.

I urge the bank to be completed as first as possible so that the youth can keep their savings in the bank. Centenary Bank is the only bank being constructed in Katakwi district which she calls for early completion.

However, the St. Stephens Catholic Church priest, Rev. Fr. Olivie Wayesu promised to always help the youth find the future in different ways.
