ATTENTION!! : All eyes are on State House Nakasero this Friday as the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) prepares to release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results, with 432,025 candidates awaiting their fate.
The announcement, scheduled for 11am, follows a high-level briefing between UNEB officials and Education Minister Janet Museveni earlier this week. Sources within the examinations body confirmed that marking and verification processes have been completed, pending the minister’s formal approval.
This year’s candidature reflects a notable 12.1 percent increase compared to 2024, underscoring a steady rise in transition and retention rates at the lower secondary level. Female candidates make up 51.5 percent of the total number registered, continuing a recent trend in which girls slightly outnumber boys at this stage.
Beyond individual performance, the results are expected to offer a broader picture of how schools are navigating the demands of the competency-based curriculum. The assessment model requires continuous evaluation, with schools systematically documenting learners’ coursework and submitting scores to UNEB as part of the final grading process.
Education stakeholders will be keenly analyzing performance trends, particularly in science subjects and practical components that have received greater emphasis under the new framework.
The UCE examinations remain a critical milestone in Uganda’s education system, determining placement into Advanced Level studies, technical and vocational institutions, and other post–Ordinary Level pathways.
