“People of Luwero, I have come here today to ask for your support. Together, we can tackle the problems that affect our daily lives, like the state of our roads, the challenges in healthcare, and the state of our schools. Among all those who have stood for the presidency, I am the one with a clear plan to lift you out of poverty,” Nandala Mafabi told the excited crowds.
He noted that for too long, those in government have made promises that never materialize.
He stressed that every election, new programs are presented, claiming they will end poverty, yet nothing changes.
“That is why my campaign is anchored on a simple but powerful message: fixing the economy, putting money in your pockets. Here’s what we plan to do: restore commercial agriculture to empower our farmers, strengthen our healthcare system so that quality care is accessible to all, and reform our education system,” he said.
Mafabi noted that teachers are the backbone of our nation, and all deserve equal and fair pay no teacher should earn less just because of the subject they teach.
“We also want to empower small businesspeople. Our boda boda riders, for instance, will be able to purchase motorcycles for just Shs2 million, paying back Shs400,000 per year over five years,” he added.
The Forum for Democratic Change candidates noted that they intend to eliminate exploitative money lenders who are taking advantage of our people instead of helping them grow, and tackle the problem of high taxes, reducing them from 30% to 10% so that your hard-earned money stays in your pocket, not in the hands of corrupt officials.
“The truth is, only I have a serious plan to lift Uganda out of poverty. President Museveni has been in power for 40 years, but the promises of progress remain unfulfilled. Give me the opportunity to lead, and together, we will build a Uganda that works for all of us,” he said.
