Collins Tanga, son of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Chief, Dr. Tanga Odoi, is on cloud 9 after reclaiming his victory with a commanding win in the re-run fresh for the party’s National Youth League Chairperson.

The re-election conducted on September 18, 2025, saw Collins secure 2,106 votes (67.6%) out of the total 3,115 votes cast.

His main challenger, Brenda Kiconco garnered 1,005 votes (32.3%) , while Wilson Otto, and Mackline Natukwasa , got two votes each.

Jacob Eyeru, Nicholas Nuwagaba, Hillary Twassima, Pascal Natamba, Geoffrey Mugisha, and Davis Mbabazi received no votes.

Fred Jachan Omach, vice chairperson of the commission, officially declared Collins as the duly elected Chairperson of the NRM Youth League.

The re-run followed the nullification of the original election held between August 26-27 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, part of the party’s general polling exercise for electing new leaders and members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC).

The NRM election disputes tribunal nullified Collins’ initial victory, citing irregularities raised by rival candidates Kiconco, Otto, and Natukwasa.

Unlike the initial centralized voting at Kololo, the re-run was conducted at district level across all 151 districts, using a lining-up voting method..
