Collins Tanga, son of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission Chief, Dr. Tanga Odoi, is on cloud 9 after reclaiming his victory with a commanding win in the re-run fresh for the party’s National Youth League Chairperson.

The re-election conducted on September 18, 2025, saw Collins secure 2,106 votes (67.6%) out of the total 3,115 votes cast.
His main challenger, Brenda Kiconco garnered 1,005 votes (32.3%) , while Wilson Otto, and Mackline Natukwasa , got two votes each.
Jacob Eyeru, Nicholas Nuwagaba, Hillary Twassima, Pascal Natamba, Geoffrey Mugisha, and Davis Mbabazi received no votes.
Fred Jachan Omach, vice chairperson of the commission, officially declared Collins as the duly elected Chairperson of the NRM Youth League.
The re-run followed the nullification of the original election held between August 26-27 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, part of the party’s general polling exercise for electing new leaders and members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC).
The NRM election disputes tribunal nullified Collins’ initial victory, citing irregularities raised by rival candidates Kiconco, Otto, and Natukwasa.
Unlike the initial centralized voting at Kololo, the re-run was conducted at district level across all 151 districts, using a lining-up voting method..

Western Uganda: Tumwebaze Mwine won with 353 votes (40%), followed by Elizabeth Kawanzi (277 votes, 31.4%), Ezra Byakutangaza (108 votes), Daisy Arinda Kankiriho (86 votes, 9.8%), Babrah Nakandi (31 votes, 3.5%), King Taali Mukasa (9 votes, 1.0%), Oscar Matsiko (6 votes, 0.7%), Darwin Ayine (5 votes, 0.6%), Reinold Mujuni (2 votes, 0.2%). Several candidates including Peterson Kanyesigye and Agnes Kemigisha received zero votes.

Female Youth MP: Daina Ampaire won decisively with 1,912 votes (58.6%), followed by Mercy Kanyesigye (1,269 votes, 38.9%), Gold Ikyiriza (41 votes, 1.3%), Suzan Katusiime (21 votes, 0.6%), Sarah Sandra Chebet (12 votes, 0.4%), and Olivia Kobusingye (7 votes, 0.2%).

Northern Uganda: Elma Kapel Challa secured the flag with 602 votes (74.7%), ahead of Moses Kidega (162 votes, 20.1%), Brenda Winny Atim (19 votes, 2.4%), Hillary Oremo Odwee (12 votes, 1.5%), Hepstar Akure (6 votes, 0.7%), John Bosco Loklit (4 votes, 0.5%), Jimmy Olukku (1 vote, 0.1%), while others got none.

Central Region: Begira Samuel won with 459 votes (78.6%), followed by Louis Kimuli Rutaganda (68 votes, 11.6%), Alex Kiwendo (20 votes, 3.4%), Esther Nankya and Sharon Umutoni tied at 12 votes each (2.1%), Ignatius Kangave Musaazi (7 votes, 1.2%), and Michelle Mweta Kigenda (6 votes, 1%). Other candidates scored zero.

Eastern Region: Judas Thadeo Wanyama narrowly won with 394 votes (40.2%), followed by Emmanuel Omaria (207 votes), Ivan Muluga (99 votes), Hebert Eonu (72 votes), Gabriel Otaya (48 votes), Christine Tino (38 votes), Peter Opolot (28 votes), Simon Okore (23 votes), Ibra Hussein (22 votes), Luke Arthur Balaba (14 votes), and Emmanuel Apwatum Ebele (12 votes). Three other got nothing.
