2026 ELECTIONS: Museveni Rallies Apac District: “No One Will Be a Spectator in Wealth Creation”

Apac, Uganda – National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged a renewed focus on inclusive economic growth, telling voters in Apac District that the era of passively watching wealth creation from the sidelines is over.

While addressing a campaign rally at Apac Boma Grounds, Museveni emphasized that all Ugandans must actively participate in building the nation’s economy. “No one will be allowed to be a spectator in wealth creation without their direct involvement henceforth,” he declared, stressing that only through hands-on engagement can communities achieve meaningful transformation.

Highlighting the progress made under NRM leadership since 1996, Museveni pointed to statistics indicating that 67% of Uganda’s population is now engaged in the money economy a testament, he said, to the government’s deliberate efforts to uplift livelihoods. “This is clear evidence that our strategies are working,” he added.

Museveni, who is seeking another term as president, vowed not to leave behind the remaining 33% still outside the money economy. “They will not be spared in my next term,” he promised, underscoring his administration’s commitment to total economic inclusion.

Focus on Agriculture and Infrastructure

The NRM flag bearer outlined plans to strengthen commercial agriculture in the region through the expansion of demonstration farms and enhanced support for local farmers. He praised Apac residents for embracing key socioeconomic programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, in which the government has injected over UGX 16 billion to stimulate enterprise and productivity at the grassroots.

Looking to the future, Museveni assured the electorate that his government will prioritize upgrading health facilities, schools, and roads in Apac District. “We are building on the gains we’ve already achieved. These next steps will solidify our progress,” he said.

Commending Environmental Stewardship

In a rare environmental pitch, the president applauded the people of the Lango sub-region for their commitment to environmental conservation, noting that their efforts have preserved rainfall patterns in contrast to drier parts of the country. He urged them to resist harmful practices such as deforestation and wetland encroachment.

“Protecting the environment is key to our survival and development,” Museveni said, warning against trading long-term sustainability for short-term benefits.

NRM Leaders Back Museveni’s Re-election

Museveni’s visit to Apac was bolstered by support from senior NRM leaders, including Dennis Hamson Obua, the party’s Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, who introduced the candidate to the crowd. Obua and other local leaders lauded the achievements of the NRM government  including peace and security, road infrastructure, job creation, and universal education, urging voters to renew their trust in Museveni’s leadership.

“As NRM, we are the only party with a truly national character and vision to transform Uganda,” Museveni asserted, calling on the electorate to protect the gains made over the decades by voting NRM at all levels in the upcoming election.
