KIGEZI, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Police in the Kigezi Region have warned candidates, teachers, parents and invigilators against examination malpractice as Senior Four candidates begin their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations today, Monday, October 12, 2026.
The candidates are starting with Mathematics Paper One this morning.
In a press statement issued, Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Nelson Tumushime cautioned that anyone caught engaging in examination malpractice would be arrested and prosecuted in courts of law.
Tumushime also warned the public against circulating false information and alleged examination leakages on social media, urging stakeholders to protect the integrity and credibility of the national examinations.
He further cautioned parents and other unauthorised persons against accessing examination centres, saying only accredited individuals would be allowed.
The warning comes as police deploy security personnel across the six districts of the Kigezi Region to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the examinations.
According to Tumushime, police have secured Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) storage facilities and deployed officers to escort examination materials from storage centres to examination centres and back.
Both uniformed and plain-clothed officers have also been deployed at examination centres to prevent malpractice, interference and access by unauthorised persons.
Police intelligence teams are on high alert to detect and prevent attempts to leak examination papers or disrupt the examination process.
The Traffic Police will also manage traffic and maintain order on roads leading to examination centres to facilitate the smooth movement of UNEB vehicles.
He called on candidates, parents, school administrators and other stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel to ensure the examinations are conducted peacefully and fairly.
