The incumbent NRM National Vice Chairperson for Workers representing the Western Region on the Central Executive Committee (CEC), Alex Kwatampora Binego, has pledged to engage policymakers to ensure that the long-awaited Minimum Wage Bill is finally brought before Parliament for debate and subsequent enactment into law.
Mr. Kwatampora noted that workers have long been subjected to unfair remuneration packages despite their tireless efforts to serve their motherland, Uganda.
He pointed out that, having served in this position for the last 10 years representing the views of workers, there has been significant progress in terms of workplace policy development. However, enforcement of these laws remains a major challenge, calling for concerted efforts from all stakeholders to ensure effective implementation.
He further pledged that, if re-elected, he would lobby for the debate and enactment of the proposed Health Insurance Bill into law.
He also vowed to champion the unionization of all workers, enabling them to collectively voice the issues affecting them — given their vital role in the development of the country’s economy.
