Uganda is in a state of shock after receiving the tragic news regarding the passing of Hajjati Nabukalu Nusura, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Budaka.
She lost her life in a car accident on the Jinja-Iganga road in Baitanbogwe, located in Mayugwe district. Reports indicate that Nusura was on her way back from a local event in Bulamagi, Iganga district, when the accident occurred.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda, via her X page, previously known as Twitter.
“I announce the heartbreaking news of the death of the Deputy RDC Budaka, Hajjati Nabukalu Nusura, who has died in an accident this evening at Musita. So painful a loss at this time. She will be dearly missed for her dedicated services to the motherland. May her soul rest in eternal peace and condolences to family, friends and the Presidency at large!” she wrote on her page.
Reports suggest that her vehicle was involved in a collision with an Isuzu Box Body truck bearing the Kenyan registration number KDH 025V, which was traveling in the opposite direction towards Iganga.
It is claimed that her driver was trying to overtake an ambulance at the time of the incident, resulting in the crash with the oncoming truck.
She reportedly died at the scene, while her driver was urgently transported to a medical facility in critical condition. The incident is said to have occurred at around 3:00pm on December 29, 2024.
The presidential press secretary, Faruk Kirunda, stated on his X account that the deceased was a proven, reliable, dedicated, and candid member of the NRM.
“She was appointed because of her unshakable zeal for the party and nation. She was well-known at all levels right from when I was very young, hearing about her when she was in the local council structures where she served without blemish. She has died in the line of duty and deserves to be celebrated and emulated in her ways. Innalillahi wainalilei rajoon!” he noted.
