Speaking on the achievement, Emmy Hashakimana, Managing Director of Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda, said that since beginning operations in 2001 as part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group, the company’s ambition has evolved from simply bottling quality beverages to becoming a trusted business partner, employer of choice and key contributor to Uganda’s economic growth.
Today, through its Official Coca-Cola Distribution network, CCBU partners with 104 distributors, indirectly serving more than 106,000 customers across the country. The company continues to strengthen its route-to-market systems, with 13% of its customer base now digitised to enhance efficiency, transparency and service delivery.
“Our portfolio includes more than 80 product variations, ensuring relevance and affordability for consumers. Notably, we have maintained the 330ml returnable glass bottle at UGX 1,000 — balancing innovation, scale and value to drive sustainable growth,” Hashakimana said.
He added that people remain at the heart of CCBU’s success. The company employs nearly 900 Ugandans and is committed to developing future leaders through structured programmes such as the Frontline Leadership Programme, Sales Academy and Graduate-in-Training initiatives. In 2026, CCBU will launch Ascend, CCBA’s 18-month Leadership-in-Training programme designed to shape Africa’s next generation of business leaders.
“Our commitment to recognition, open communication and career growth has earned us Top Employer certification for 2025 and 2026, as well as the Bronze Employer of the Year Award from the Federation of Uganda Employers. We also grow alongside our customers by investing in capability building, cold-drink availability and market intelligence — ensuring inclusive and resilient growth across the value chain,” he noted.
Hashakimana emphasised that doing business responsibly remains non-negotiable. “We prioritise water replenishment, reduce packaging waste and support women, youth and persons with disabilities through our social impact programmes,” he said.
In 2023, CCBU was recognised at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Taxpayers Awards for ethical business practices, tax compliance and the highest revenue contribution in its category.
Today, CCBU is the second-largest bottler in the CCBA group after South Africa. In 2025, the company emerged as a top performer at the CCBA Leadership Awards, while Coca-Cola was ranked among the Top 10 Most Admired Brands at the Brand Africa Awards in Kampala.
“As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing responsibly, investing in our people and creating shared value for communities across Uganda,” Hashakimana said.
He concluded that after nearly 25 years, CCBU is more than a bottler. “We are part of Uganda’s story, and we are proud to continue building its future.”
