KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – The General Court Martial in Makindye has given Army prosecutors more time to complete investigations into a case against Amos Rwangomani, a brother to Water and Environment Minister Gen Kahinda Otafiire.
Rwangomani is accused of illegally possessing two firearms and 10 rounds of ammunition.
Prosecution led by Lt Regina Nanzala told the court that investigators were still addressing gaps in the case file.
She said the file had been returned to the investigations team so that the outstanding issues could be resolved.
Rwangomani’s lawyer, Capt Daniel Kagombe, did not object to the request.
The court, presided over by Col Fredrick Kangwamu, adjourned the case to November 4, 2026. On that day, prosecution is expected to give an update on the investigations.
Rwangomani, 56, is a supervisor with Kamed Security Company and is currently out on bail.
According to the charge sheet, prosecutors allege that in October 2025, Rwangomani was found at Mulago Business Centre in Kampala with a pistol marked G 259085.
The prosecution says the firearm is normally restricted to the Defence Forces and that Rwangomani had no legal authority to possess it.
He is also accused of possessing another pistol with serial number PSO BO 19687-08980 and 10 rounds of pistol ammunition.
Rwangomani had earlier reportedly gone missing after he was allegedly taken by the military in August 2025 at Mulago Business Centre. He was later produced before the Court Martial and released on bail.
