The Uganda Police Force has dismissed allegations circulating on social media that its officers illegally evicted a woman from property in Mbuya, insisting that the operation was conducted under a valid court order and within the law.
The controversy erupted after a video surfaced online showing a woman claiming that police officers had forcefully removed her from property located on plots 55 and 56, Ismael Road in Mbuya.
The footage triggered public debate over the conduct of security personnel during the eviction.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala said the eviction was carried out on July 13, 2026, following a lawful court process arising from a civil dispute over the ownership and possession of the property.
She explained that the High Court, in a judgment delivered on February 28, 2024, declared the rightful owner of the land and ordered vacant possession.
After earlier attempts to enforce the judgment failed, a valid warrant of execution was issued and remained in force when the eviction was undertaken.
According to Kawala, the operation was executed by court-authorised officers, while police personnel from Jinja Road Division were deployed solely to maintain law and order and ensure the court process was carried out peacefully in line with their legal mandate.
Police further said that during the exercise, a woman identified as Prossy Agaba allegedly became hostile and assaulted the officer leading the police deployment.
She was arrested at the scene and has since been charged.
The Force also refuted claims that officers oversaw the demolition of the property, maintaining that all structures on the land were still intact when the police concluded their security role and left the premises.
Police reiterated that their involvement was strictly limited to providing security during the court-sanctioned execution process and advised that any grievances arising from the enforcement of court orders should be addressed through the appropriate legal channels.

However, Agaba who claims to have been left homeless, accused police of assault.
